Treelectric was an interactive smartphone controlled Christmas tree commissioned by MEDEA and exhibited during the MEDEA christmas event. By scanning a QR code at the party or manually navigating to the project webpage, party goers (or people who were not present) could change the lighting pattern of the christmas lights on the christmas tree. A live video stream on the project website allowed people who could not attend the party to control the lights and enjoy the atmosphere of the event.

I implemented the network communication code, the website and the mobile interface. The project was built on Arduino, included interactive electroluminescent wire and LED’s, used PubSub message hub software to relay the data  and Bambuser to stream the video to the web.

The project was designed in collaboration with Clara Leivas, Liv Clark, Peter Höglund,  Johannes Nilsson, Thomas Rogowiec and Nils Thalin.
